Different Types of Heat Transfers
Which One Do You Prefer?
Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV)
The traditional solid colored designs that can also be stacked to give your design an array of color. Heat transfer vinyl comes in a variety of solid colors, metallic, patterns, and different hand feels. Typical HTV can be applied with a home iron, but for best results it is best to use a heat press. They range from stretch, rubberized, puff, flocked, and even. The hand feel is varies from soft to medium soft depending on the type of HTV used. HTV holds up to many wash cycles when applied per the manufacturers specifications and can be applied to cotton, polyester, some nylons, leather, and blends.
Screen Print/Plastisol Transfers
Just like screen print, but placed onto a heat transferable paper or film to be heat pressed onto your garment of choice. Screen print transfers can be applied to many types of garments and offer a great soft-hand feel and several washes and normal last as long as the garment. These types of transfers must be applied with a professional heat press. These transfers can be applied onto many types of garments such as 50/50, polyester, cotton, blends, and some nylons.
Direct to Fabric (DTF)
DTF works by printing transfers that are heat pressed to a variety of garments (and other substrates). There are many compatible fabrics including cotton, nylon, leather, polyester, and 50/50 blends. This is unlike DTG technology which only works on cotton fabrics. This therefore means that this printer works on a much wider substrate, making it the most versatile digital printer in the market. DTF printers work on both white and dark garments and can get the job done without requiring you to press on costly A+B paper, as is the case with the white toner printers. Direct Transfer Film printers also combine reliability, unmatched quality and high productivity. Another advantage of DTF transfers it is highly sustainable. There is no question that the fashion industry is increasingly focusing on sustainability. These types of transfers must be applied with a professional heat press.
MMHTs™
Our in-house heat transfers made from your vector art into a multimedia composition to give your design a highly professional and lost lasting effect. MMHTs™ require a meticulous breakdown of your design to give it one of the best hand feels in the industry when it comes to heat transfers. These are not your average heat transfers that are purchased online. They only can be purchased from us, Plenty Moored Designs LLC®. It is a proprietary heat transfer from our company. These types of transfers must be applied with a professional heat press and can withstand a multitude of wash cycles and are not known for any cracking under normal usage and wear.
Print & Cut Transfers
Print & Cut heat transfers are printed full color onto a polyurethane (PU) vinyl substrate then contour cut on a cutter, masked, and transferred onto garments. Print & Cut heat transfers offer full color hi-resolution output of any design. These work best with photos and chest logos. These types of transfers must be applied with a professional heat press and can withstand a multitude of wash cycles and are not known for any cracking under normal usage and wear. The con is the hand feel is not the best in the industry.
White Toner Transfers
White Toner transfer require to press on A+B paper. This methodology can only be achieve with special laser printers that use white toners. The white toner is used as an under-base to produce full color, vibrant prints for many fabric types such as 50/50, polyester, cotton, blends, some nylons, and leathers. These types of transfers must be applied with a professional heat press and can withstand up to 30-45 wash cycles depending on the design. Some have said white toner transfer are only best for logos and small runs. The hand feel is remarkable when designed correctly and setup properly. They can also be applied to hard substrates such as mugs, tiles, wood, ceramics, and glass with different transfer paper types.
